This is a little bit of what I've been writing! It's about a girl named Natasha and she's a sleuth trying to solve a mystery. The story is based in late 1800s England, and I did my best writing it, but it still is writing in the works! I hope you enjoy ❤️
Natasha Turner examined the room carefully. A broken window with blood on it, a dirty footprint in the carpet, and a button. “Not much to go on.” She picked up a small rock embedded in the carpet and looked at it closely. It looked like the pebbles on the shore of the river. “Thank you, officer. I’m done.”
The officer tipped his hat and nodded. “Yes ma’am.”
Natasha walked out the jewellery shop pondering the evidence. Trying to piece together the clues, she decided that she would visit the witness to the scene. Mr. Pierce was his name, and while he was a friendly man, he was rather jumpy.
"The man I saw, um more of a younger adult, he had, um, brown hair, and uh, looked as if he was around twenty-three, twenty-four, twenty-five, years old?” Mr. Pierce’s eyes darted around nervously as he wrung his hands.
Natasha scribbled in her notebook and looked back up at Mr. Pierce. “What time was it when you were walking and you saw the suspect?”
“S-suspect? Am I a suspect? Oh oh oh!” He trembled, rocked in his chair, back and forth. “I didn’t do anything, I swear! I was just out for a walk! It was a- a nice night, and I couldn’t sleep!” Sweat rolled down his face.
“Mr. Pierce, I’m not accusing you of anything, I’m just asking a few questions,” she assured him. “Now, do you remember what time it was?”
His brows furrowed as he thought. “Um, around…4:30?”
“And why were you awake?”
“I couldn’t sleep, that’s what I told you! Are you going to arrest me? I’m innocent! I didn’t do anything!” Mr. Pierce’s knees knocked together.
Natasha sighed with a tinge of frustration. She looked at her notepad. Not much to go on here either. “No, Mr. Pierce, I’m not going to arrest you, and like I told you before, I’m not saying you were the thief. I really need more information, so if you could help me out?”
He shook his head quickly. “I- I need– I’m sorry, can you please leave?” He stood, but quickly sat down, touching his head. “You–you know the way out.”
Natasha nodded and stood. “Thank you for your help, Mr. Pierce.” She walked to the door, but stopped before she opened it. “I may be coming back if I need to ask more questions, so please think about last night.” She curtsied as she walked out of the house and slowly shut the door behind her. The visit had not gone how she had planned, but it was better than nothing. “I think I’ll check with Mr. Pierce’s neighbours.
After knocking on four houses, two of which no one was home, all the information she had collected was that Mr. Pierce was usually a jittery, nervous person, and often went out in the middle of the night. He was very secluded, and no one knew much about him.
She walked home, confused, and decided to stop at Jordan’s house. Jordan had been her best friend since she’d almost drowned in the river Thames when she was fifteen years old and he’d dove in and saved her. He was someone that she could trust. Someone she could depend on. Although he wasn’t rich like her family, quite on the contrary, and she often was teased about hanging around with a ‘peasant boy,’ Natasha still enjoyed being around with him, and talking. She knocked on his dorm room. Almost immediately, she was answered. “Yeah, what do yer want?”
“Hello, Jack,” she curtsied and Jack nodded. “I’m looking for Jordan.” She felt rather short as he stared down at her.
“Jordan isn’t here.” He started closing the door, but she stopped him. “Where is he?”
Jack shrugged. “He left ‘round late last night. Didn’t say nothing ‘bout where he was going.” He looked back into the dorm, then back at Natasha. “Do you want anything more?”
Natasha groaned inwardly. “No. Thank you Jack.” She curtsied as Jack closed the door. She’d been counting on someone to talk to and shoot ideas back and forth with.
Just an excerpt of some of my writing!
It would mean a lot to me if you could tell me what you think, and thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed :)
