"Oh, my love." The villain sighed. "Aren't you tired of this endless running? You don't look well. All this writhing in the dust like a hunted animal really doesn't suit you."
The hero struggled with the trap locking their ankles to the floor, keeping them from running further. Breath quickening the closer the villain got to them.
"I'm tired of chasing," the villain said. "Of indulging this little game of yours. Let's stop pretending that there's anywhere you could go where I couldn't find you." Finally, they came to a stop by the hero's feet. "Hm?"
The hero's chest tightened as the villain's body drew close to hers. She leaned back but felt the trap dig into her ankles as she began to fall. She clutched the villain's body, and he helped her up.
"See, this isn't too bad, is it?" The villain held his arms around her.
"I will never love you! You couldn't change anything. Now release me before I-"
"Before you what?" He brushed his lips down her neck. "What are you going to do to me?"
"If you don't let go, I'm going to-"
"Don't waste your breath, love."
Yes, there's going to be something like this in the novel...😉
